1996 Pepper Tree Classic Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Cabernet Franc

This is the top label of the Pepper Tree reds and is produced from the best parels of fruit in top vintages. Deep crimson, brick red colour. This is a much tighter wine than their other 'Coonawarra red' with the Cabernet playing a stronger role and asserting its tannic presence. Aromas of vanilla, blackcurrant, raspberry, spice and violets - very attractive! The palate is unyeilding at first, yet is supported by ripe blackcurrant flavours with spice and confectionary in the background. The tannins are firm, yet in balance and will soften to produce a first class wine. Cellar 5 - 8 years.
