1996 Passing Clouds Shiraz

Produced from 25 year old, dry grown vines, this is an excellent example of aged central Victorian Shiraz. Medium body, brick red colour, showing signs of bottle development. The nose displays aromas of leather, sweet prunes, spice, plum and confectionery - in many ways reminiscent of an aged Rhone red. The palate displays impressive complexity with flavours of ripe plum, stewed fruits, leather and spice followed by some confectionery and earth back palate flavour. The acidity is a touch on the high side but more than acceptable. Velvet smooth tannins, followed by long sweet plum, cedar, earth and truffle aftertaste.
