Mount Pleasant Elizabeth exemplifies a classic Australian wine style: Bottle-Aged Hunter Valley Semillon. Mount Pleasant Elizabeth Semillons are made to a consistently high level of quality, which is reflected in the fact that over one hundred gold medals and ten trophies have been won by Elizabeth Semillons from the last ten vintages. The grapes were crushed, drained and cold settled prior to fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for 18 days. After cold stabilisation and filtration the wine was held in acool room at 10°C prior to bottling in August 1996.Pale green straw colour. On the nose there are lifted grassy lemon and lime fruit characters. Fresh citrus fruit flavours on the palate give the impression of sweetness, with a crisp acid finish. Just a hint of emerging nut and honey flavours from bottle maturation. The wine's fresh crisp acidity indicates a potential for further cellaring for 5-7 years plus, giving it time to further develop into a classic Hunter semillon. 10.5% alcohol volume.
