1996 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay

Bright straw colour. Magnificent nose of hazelnut, biscuit and cashew with a hint of toasted oak and butterscotch, all superbly integrated with a trace of aniseed as an end note. Complex palate, mouthfilling, yet again one of those seamless wines, nothing stands out but a new Chardonnay form is created, anise on the end, hazelnut, cashew, butterscotch, toasted oak and yeast lees are there, but not apparent. Perfect balance and acidity. Expensive, but like a holiday, essential once in a while.
