Grape Varieties: 100% Verdicchio
Region: From a single vineyard of 2.7 hectares close to the Adriatic coast in Le Marche.
Production: The well ripened grapes are hand picked before undergoing a soft press and fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 20°C for 2–4 weeks. During this time Malolactic fermentation occurs. 20-30% is then fermented in large 500 litre French oak barrels for 18 months before bottling with the wine spending further time in the bottle before release. This wine has impressive structure and consistency; it ages very well for up to 10 years.
Characteristics: Pale golden straw in colour, intense slightly nutty fresh bouquet. The palate is flinty dry and tangy with a slightly oily texture balanced by firm acidity. It is full of fruit and finishes with a pleasing delicate bitterness.
Serve: 10-12° Celsius.
Try it with: Oysters, freshly shucked or some lightly smoked trout. Also as an aperitif.
