1996 Elderton Barossa Valley Merlot

Another superb red from Elderton, a result of the great 1996 vintage in the Barossa Valley. The wine was matured in French and American oak for 18 months. Deep crimson colour. Superb, uplifting nose of confectionary, mulberry, spice and vanilla. The palate displays wonderfully ripe fruit flavours with that unmistakable 'Barossa Sunshine' hallmark. Mouth filling, lingering flavours of ripe mulberries, liquorice and vanillin oak which remain well into the aftertaste. Perfect balance - fine firm tannins, all in total harmony with the generous fruit. Cellar 3 - 4 years.
