Made from a blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc. The fruit for this wine was sourced solely from Coriole’s old low yielding vineyards on the hills behind the winery. The wine was fermented in traditional open fermenters using hand-plunging to submerge the cap, and then pressed into a mixture of new and old French oak barriques in which it was aged for 12 months. Very deep crimson colour with mauve edges. Aroma of ripe plum and marzipan, very sophisticated. On the palate flavours of dark chocolate and marzipan, followed by plum and blackcurrant. Fine grained, firmish tannins, well balanced, followed by a very long plum, blackcurrant, vanilla and marzipan aftertaste. An excellent red, with outstanding cellaring potential. Cellar 8-10 years.
