Tasting note: Whisky lovers might recall Dailuaine in its Flora and Fauna incarnation - and that's about it. Not surprising as most production is reserved for filling out blends. We still remember the Flora & Fauna 16 year old for its big-boned, rich, sweet malt character that set it apart. This is another seriously good Dailuaine - and with a big age statement. Berry Brothers buyer, Doug McCivor is spot on when he sums up the nose as "sugar sprinkled melon". There's a crispness and freshness that evokes fruit salad, but it's also a little oily - even salty. At 46% there's no shortage of body. The oily, fruity quality carries onto the mid palate, while the finish features tea biscuits and honey. Spicy, poised and long, this is a great example of the distillery style. The next time we see another like it might be a long time away, so don't miss it! 46% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
