Tasting notes sourced from Southcorp Wines.

The Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon is only made in years when grapes of extraordinarily high quality are available. The 1994 vintage is made from some of the oldest Cabernet vines in Coonawarra and uses the top 3% of Wynns Coonawarra Estate's fruit. The wine was matured in new French oak hogsheads for 24 months. Dense, almost opaque colour, with crimson edges. On the nose there are minty aromas with a complex array of rich, ripe berry and cassis flavours, with spicy French oak in the background. This is big concentrated voluptuous wine. The palate displays ripe dark berry fruit flavours and a well balanced very tight structure with sweet charry oak and firm tannins. Excellent length and structure. This is destined to be a classic - it will slowly evolve over the next 10 years or more gaining further richness and complexity. Winner of 1 Trophy and 3 Gold Medals. 13.5% Alcohol Volume.
