1994 Woodstock The Stocks Shiraz

"The Stocks" is Woodstocks expression of the finest Shiraz produced in a given year. 1994 was a great vintage, this wine has been made from 105 year old vines - giving it a degree of intensity and concentration that only comes with age.Opaque crimson colour. The nose is magnificent with loads of ripe blackberry, liquorice, blackpepper and vanillin oak. This wine has it all - and very well integrated at that. The palate is as generous as the nose with strong blackberry flavours to the forefront, however, the real surprise comes from the way the blackpeppers build. Quietly at first, then a little more evident, until finally a crescendo of flavour fills the mouth. Excellent length and depth, the American oak comes back into play - fine tannins and very long aftertaste. Superb! Cellar 8 - 10 years.
