This is the Uluru (Ayres Rock) of Australian Shiraz. Monumental,a landmark, unique and of great beauty. Some winemakers madeearly claims about the monumental reds produced from the 1994vintage, particularly in South Australia. THE SEVENHILL SHIRAZ IS AN EXTRAORDINARY WINE AND PROBABLY ONE OF THE VERY BEST WINES TO BE MADE FROM CLARE.The colour is a solid hue of purples and crimson - just fantastic levels of colour extraction. The nose indicates a wineof solid structure, - layers of pure aroma - blackberry juice, spice, blackpepper, plums and a hint of other ripe berry aromas. The palate delivers exactly the notes that the nose anticipated. The full orchestra blasting the "olfactory bulb" with the kindof power Mahler delivers in his "Resurrection" Symphony. This isnot a wine for dining - it demands a robust meal - well hung game, kangaroo or buffalo. The palate is concentrated to thepoint of stopping just short of being pure juice. Superb balance and good levels of tannin. High alcohol - 14.6%. A wine to enjoyover the next 10-20 years.
