Tasting notes sourced from Southcorp Wines.

The Bin 389 blend was developed from experimental wines made in the mid 1950's at Penfolds Magill cellars, alongside Grange and St. Henri. The Penfolds Bin 389 combines the elegance of Cabernet Sauvignon with richness of Shiraz as well as demonstrating the Penfolds' trademark - perfect balance between fruit and oak.The wine was matured in new, one and two year old American oak barrels for 16 months including all those that held the previous vintage of Penfolds Grange. Deep red colour with hints of purple on the rim. The nose is a little closed at first but slowly reveals aromas of sweet berry and ripe plum, spices, chocolate and coffee vanillin oak. The palate is full bodied and displays luscious ripe berry, plum, dark chocolate and coffee been flavours with soft rounded tannins. Excellent length with lingering fruit and oak characters. Cellar 5-10 years. 13.5% Alcohol Volume.Presented in a wooden box.
