Grape Variety: 100% chardonnay grown in the Henschke Eden Valley vineyard.

Background: Chardonnay is a classic grape variety from the Burgundy area of France. No other variety achieves the fullness and depth of flavour when grown in a cool climate.Eden Valley is located in the cooler Mount Lofty Ranges, just east of the Barossa Valley, with an altitude of 450-500 metres, rainfall of around 700mm and well-drained soils consisting of sandy loam over clay.

Vintage Description: The chardonnay fruit was harvested at the end of March. The Eden Valley region, together with the warm 1994 season, provided ideal conditions for the chardonnay variety. The wine was barrel fermented in new French Nevers, Vosges and Allier oak with 50% undergoing malolactic fermentation.

Tasting Notes: Deep gold. Developed honey, nougat and tropical characters. Toasty peach, honey and barley-sugar. Sweet, soft and rich. The palate is juicy and sumptuous with a soft finish.

Cellaring Potential: Very good vintage, drink now.
Alcohol: 13.7%
