1993 Parker Coonawarra Estate Terra Rossa First Growth

The objective of Parker First Growth is just that - to produce an exceptional red from Coonawarra, on par with the first growths. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, from the finest grapes grown on Terra Rossa. Its strong minty character makes the wine too different for comparisonswith Bordeaux - but none the less it's a classy wine needing about a decade to reach its peak. Opaque brick red colour. The nose displays a distinctive minty aroma, that goes on to form the backbone of this wine. Mulberry spice and violet aromas witha hint of tea leaf make for a complex nose. The palate is solid, quite heavy at this stage with strong chocolate and spice flavours enhancing the big blackcurrant fruits. The mint persists and continues to last for a very long time on theaftertaste.
