The packaging of this magnificent red comes complete with a very thorough Biblical lesson. Grant Burge's Great, Great Grandfather was named MESHACH, and Grant has produced a wine of outstanding quality to honour the memory of the founder of the Burge wine making tradition. MESHACH is Grant Burge's best Shiraz. However, the Biblical lesson that Burge goes back to is the Kingdom of Babylon, and refers to two of Meshach's mates, SHADRACH and ABEDNEGO (the three officials refused to bow before a golden pagan statue built by King NEBUCHADNEZZAR).Burge is continuing to produce exceptional wine has created the SHADRACH label for his most outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon. To get the entire story, you'll have to purchase a six pack or refer to the Old Testament. Now to the wine....Deep brick red colour. Magnificent nose, almost perfumed, with its heady aromas of blackcurrants, violets, cedar, spice and confectionary. The palate lives up to all the expectations of the nose - magnificent ripe fruit flavours with liquorice all sorts, spice and cedar all perfectly integrated with ripe blackcurrant flavours. Mouth filling. Fine grained tannins, well balanced and very long aftertaste. Cellar 3 - 5 years.
