Australian winelovers are fortunate in having a number ofvineyards still producing wine from vines over 100 years old.Best's Great Western, Chateau Tahbilk and d'Arenberg are amongstthe star performers. The 1993 d'Arenberg Old Vines Shiraz ismade from vines up to 125 years old, and having said that, andgiven the price and quality of this wine, it's a bargain! Thisis a McLaren Vale classic. Deep brick red with crimson hues. Thenose is unmistakably McLaren Vale with its traditional hint ofcedary leather over its strong ripe peppery fruit base. Thepalate has good weight, but could not be described as heavy -yet with excellent concentration of blackpepper and stewed plumflavours over a leathery backbone. Mouthfilling, excellentbalance of parts - fine grained tannin structure and longaftertaste. Outstanding Value. Cellar up to 10 years.\Z
