Tasting note: [20ml sample] One of the older age statements in Batch 16 is this claret matured selection. Deep amber gold in colour, at first, it's fairly low-key on the nose, teasing out hints of dried cranberry, blackberries and cream sponge cake. The oak has a polished feel, while the delivery is a balanced fusion of whisky and wood. Tannins add a furry, textural quality, but mostly it's about the malt. The finely astringent finish hints at whisky soaked red berry tart and dried coconut. Excellent length, however it may be too subtle for some. 53.1% abv. Non chill filtered. 261 bottles.
