$2399. 00

$28788.00 Dozen

Tasting note: The most impressive whisky in the 2019 collection, this deep copper to mahogany coloured Mortlach is an instant classic. Leather armchair, walnut fudge, toffee apple, date cake and gently smokey malt dominate the nose, while the palate is meaty, full and richly sherried. The prolonged finish accents baking spice, coffee cake and assorted dried fruits. PX ramps up the final stages with flavours of caramel-glazed sticky date through the pleasingly grippy aftertaste. Pricey, but clearly the race horse in this year's Diageo stable. 53.3% Alc./Vol. 3883 bottles produced.

Other reviews... Aged in newly toasted first-fill Pedro Ximénez and oloroso sherry-seasoned casks, this veteran ‘beast of Dufftown’ makes a big impression. Sweet, with smoky sherry, fragrant pipe tobacco, old leather, walnuts, vanilla, and ripe cherries. The oily palate yields more leather, blackcurrant cough drops, nutmeg, cloves, Jaffa oranges, and black tea. Raisins, licorice, and oak tannins, before sweeter chocolate in the very long finish.
