1992 Cadenheads Small Batch Glenallachie 25 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Difficult to find at the best of times (the prolific 'Malt Maniacs' managed less than three dozen independent bottlings in a decade), Cadenhead's come to this rescue with this remarkably old Glenallachie!

At just fifty years old, Glenallachie is one of the younger distilleries in Speyside, dwarfed by neighbouring grand marques like Macallan, Aberlour, Glenfiddich and Balvenie. Fermentation times are long, resulting in a fruity, robust spirit with about 20% of the output being peated. The first official bottling only appeared in 2005.

This indie edition was distilled a fews years after Pernod Ricard acquired the distillery. Matured in two bourbon hogsheads and bottled in 2018 with a total of 540 bottles on offer, Cadenhead's say to expect aromas of ginger biscuits, linseed oil and nettle leaves, followed by flavours of chocolate orange cake, green apples and tinned peaches. The finish hints at peppermint sweets and tea leaves. 56% Alc./Vol.
