Tasting note: Nose: Weighty and rich: cumin powder, sweet orange peel (and pulp), bitter chocolate torte. Water melts the chocolate and orange together. Palate: Very dense and fungal, suggesting maturity. Lightly smoked with tannins and a citric/marmalade fruitiness. Balanced and complex. Finish: Long, soft and raisined. Comment: Big and powerful but with sufficient character to cope. Another cracker from Rothes. 43% Alc./Vol.Rating: 85

'Another cracker from Rothes'.

Other reviews... The newest expression from the 1990's. Heavier, richer, and more ripe that the 1987 Vintage. It is very creamy and mouth-coating, with layers of sweetness (vanilla, caramel, light toffee, white chocolate), fruit (sultana, plum), along with a good underpinning of oak spice. A very nice effort for a whisky this young. Rating 88
