Mount Pleasant is one of the most famous Hunter Valley producers. This classic bottle-aged Semillon is it tribute to the legendary winemaker Maurice O'Shea who founded Mount Pleasant in 1921.McWilliams Mount Pleasant Elizabeth exemplifies a classic Australian wine style, bottle-aged Hunter Valley Semillon. These wines are made to a consistently high level of quality, which is reflected in the fact over one hundred gold medals and ten trophies have been won by Elizabeth Semillons from the last ten vintages.Grapes were picked in February 1990 and fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for 12 days The wine was held under cool room conditions at 10C until bottling it in November 1990. First released in October 1995, a small quantity was held back for further ageing and re-release in 1999.Straw yellow colour. The nose displays developed honey, toasty aromas and distinctive bottle aged Semillon characters yet, still has youthful lemony scents. The palate has rich medium-bodied fruit showing distinctive developed Hunter Semillon nutty flavours finishing with a crisp citrus like acidity. This is a special wine to enjoy now but will continue to develop into a rich full bodied classic Hunter Semillon over the next 3-5 years. 10% alcohol volume.
