1990 Adelphi Bowmore 27 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

One of the oldest single barrel releases from Bowmore in recent years, this one drawn from a refill Bourbon cask that yielded just 123 bottles. Compared to the going prices for the acclaimed distillery bottling at 25 years of age (also x Bourbon but 43% ABV and $700+), the value for money is excellent here.

Notes from the bottlers... Dull gold with verdigris lights. Excellent beading. Slightly nose-drying. A complex maritime top-note, with a suggestion of fragrant oil, on a base of moss and a faintly smouldering driftwood. After a while fruit flavoured boiled sweets emerge. Antiseptic cream and smoke in the development. A drop of water introduces a scented, lavender note. Surprisingly sweet to taste, with a light saltiness and a trace of lavender in the lightly smoky finish. A drop of water balances the ensemble, leaving a long ashy aftertaste. 52.5% Alc./Vol.
