1987 R.L. Buller & Son Vintage Port

This is another exceptional Vintage Port from Bullers, but made in the Portuguese style, and is much drier than traditional Australian vintage ports. Very deep sienna brown colour, with sienna edges. Superb nose of toffee, brandy spirit, prunes and Christmas cake, followed by a distinct marzipan end note. Marzipan is a rare quality, and only found in great Vintage Ports, and some red wines. On the palate, flavours of marzipan and liquorice – quite dry and lingering. Excellent length and balance, followed by a long dry finish with marzipan and toffee lingering. Cellar for a further 4 – 5 years (2005 – 2006), and as with the 1978 be careful how you extract the cork. Stocks are very limited.
