Finished in PX casks, this has always been one of our favourites from the series, demonstrating how well peat and sweet sherry can work together. Distilled way back in 1984 and bottled in 2001, this is now very unusual to surface on the secondary market and quite an antique. 43% Alc./Vol.

Diageo's 'Distillers Editions' (aka 'DE's) hit the market around 20 years ago, and originally included the six "Classic Malts" (Cragganmore, Dalwhinnie, Glenkinchie, Lagavulin, Oban and Talisker). These various 'Double Maturations' or finishes, usually involving sweet fortifieds (port, muscat, PX sherry etc), tend to soften each distillery's house character, edging some towards the 'dessert' end of the flavour spectrum. Across the range, they make for delicious, broad-appeal, food friendly whiskies that showcase the impact of each finishing type. The key to success is to avoid overwhelming the malt with secondary flavours, and some achieve this balancing act better than others.
