Grape Variety:100% cabernet sauvignon grapes grown in the Eden Valley region.

Background: Cyril Henschke (1924-1979) was one of Australia’s outstanding winemakers and a pioneer in the production of varietal table wines, with the accent on quality and flavour. The cabernet sauvignon label continues to carry his name as a tribute.

Vintage Description:Good winter rains followed by a mild spring and cool summer preceded a dry vintage. The conditions were ideal for harvesting, broken only by light rains in mid-April followed by cool misty mornings.

Tasting Notes: Brick red in colour. Very aromatic with lifted sweet, ripe cassis, slightly jammy with cedar, violets and vanilla. Soft, sweet, rich, fleshy and intense with good length. Complex, concentrated and unctuous with velvety tannins.

Quality Assurance: This wine was assessed under the supervision of Stephen Henschke, winemaker of C.A. Henschke & Co.

Cellaring Potential: Exceptional vintage, drink now. Reviewed April 2002. Decant before serving.
