HISTORY: The Mount Edelstone vineyard was planted in the 1920's in a rich sandy loam soil on the eastern slopes of Mount Edelstone, meaning gemstone, near Keyneton, high in the Eden Valley region of South Australia. The 70 year old dry grown vines are low yielding, producing intensity of colour, spicy fruit flavours, great complexity and palate length. Handpicked, made using traditional winemaking techniques and matured in small oak barrels, the Mount Edelstone wines have received awards at National Wine Shows each year since 1956.

VINTAGE DESCRIPTION: A warm summer with good rains, a hot vintage, with high yields and ripe fruit.

TASTING NOTES: Made from 100% old vine Shiraz. Brick red/ruby colour, lifted and spicy with complex, earthy, tarry, Jamaican chocolate and plum jam aromas, sweet intense and developed with hints of pepper, ferns, moss and vanilla, showing good structure and length, and a sweet silky soft tannin finish. In excellent condition.

QUALITY ASSURANCE: This wine was assessed, under the supervision of Stephen Henschke, winemaker of CA. Henschke & Co.

CELLARING POTENTIAL:Great vintage, drink now. Decant before serving.
