1979 Gordon & Macphail Rare Old Glenlochy 36 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Highlands, SCOTLAND
$1200. 00
Bottle
$14400.00 Dozen
ABV: 46%
One of the rarer single malts on the market with even fewer known bottlings than famous relics such as Port Ellen, Rosebank et al. Demolished in 1979, Glenlochy is one of the many distilleries that were founded during the 'whisky boom' at the end of the 19th century. This rare independent release from Gordon & MacPhail was bottled in 2012 after a maturation period of over three decades spent in a refill sherry hogshead. One only to sell.

Notes from the bottler... Nose without Water: Campino boiled sweets and fresh apple pie. Freshly cut green grass and driftwood aromas. Palate without Water: Initially sweet and salty - toasted digestive biscuits - with a hint of smoke. Nose with Water: Aromas of Manzanilla Sherry and hot sand on the beach. Dark chocolate and freshly ground black pepper notes emerge. Palate with Water: A subtle smokiness with flavours of freshly baked shortcrust pastry and oiled wood developing. Long finish. 46% Alc./Vol.
