GRAPE VARIETY: 100% old vine Shiraz.

HISTORY: The Mount Edelstone vineyard was planted in the 1920's in a rich sandy loam soil on the eastern slopes of Mount Edelstone, meaning gemstone, near Keyneton, high in the Eden Valley region of South Australia. The 70 year old dry grown vines are low yielding, producing intensity of colour, spicy fruit flavours, great complexity and palate length. Handpicked, made using traditional winemaking techniques and matured in small oak barrels, the Mount Edelstone wines have received awards at National Wine Shows each year since 1956.

VINTAGE DESCRIPTION: A dry season, low yields and high quality, an exceptional vintage for reds.

WINE DESCRIPTION: Ruby in colour, concentrated stewed plums, sweet earth and chocolate, showing development flavours of liquorice and tar, quite concentrated rich and full on the palate with lots of soft mature tannins, intense fruit and great length.

QUALITY ASSURANCE: This wine was assessed, under the supervision of Stephen Henschke, winemaker of C.A. Henschke & Co.

CELLARING POTENTIAL: Excellent vintage, drink now. Decant before serving.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Lamb, beef, game, venison, kangaroo and matured cheeses.
