Given the scarcity of official distillery bottlings over the last five years, it's not surprising that Scapas are now making a presence on the secondary market. This extraordinary release is the oldest Scapa we've ever stocked. Distilled in 1977 and bottled in 2005 from cask No.228, just 193 bottles were produced. The ABV is also remarkably high considering the age of the whisky. The bottle shows some cellar bloom and parts of the label have faded slightly, but overall it's in very good condition.

After being mothballed and then operating for just a few months a year since 1997, Scapa's modern incarnation (post 2004) now produces full time. In 2008 the new Scapa 16 Year Old was launched, replacing the 14 year old but was subsequently discontinued. Since Pernod Ricard became the new owners completing a second phase of refurbishment in 2015, Scapa launched the NAS expression, ‘Skiren’. Apart from this and the odd indie release, Scapa is otherwise rarely encountered.
