1968 Glenfarclas The Family Casks Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

The Glenfarclas Distillery, with over 52000 casks currently maturing in its traditional dunnage warehouses, is in the enviable position of having stock in cask from every year from 1952 to the current day. The Distillery formally launched 'The Family Casks', an exclusive collection of 43 vintage dated Single Cask Highland Malt Scotch Whiskies in September 2007 and since then the interest in the collection has been intense, with two bars quick to order a complete set. We are fortunate to be able to offer one bottle each of the 1968 and 1969 vintages for sale in Australia. These bottlings are both a collector's opportunity or a stunning 40th Birthday present. The 1968 vintage was bottled at cask strength from a Sherry butt on 30/11/2006. Only 483 bottles produced. 

Tasting notes: A dark amber-bronze colour. Full-bodied Glenfarclas, very deep and mature, complex fruits, sultanas and marmalade. A strong powerful Glenfarclas, I believe it is the strongest we have ever released at this age. The aromas are intense with rich tones of honey, vanilla, liquorice, cinnamon, raisins and a hint of peat smoke. This whisky has many layers to delve through. It is like a layered cake with fruit on top, honey, caramel and toffee in the middle, with dry oaky spiciness and a slightly smoky finish. 65.1% Alc/Vol.
