2005 Murray Street Shiraz

Glen Eldon was established by Mary and Richard Sheedy in 1997. Prior to launching his family label of Glen Eldon Wines, Richard gained his experience as Winemaker/General Manager at Elderton and previously at St Hallett Wines. Matured in French and American oak.

Opaque crimson colour with black crimson hue with just a hint of mauve purple. The nose delivers aromas of blackcurrant, violet and spice, followed by dark chocolate and liquorice allsorts. Mouthfilling palate – refined, with flavours of white pepper, plum and spice over a background of vanilla, cedar and black chocolate. Very fine tannins. Excellent length and depth. Aftertaste of cigar box, cedar and blackcurrant.

Bright pale straw colour with water like hue. Fresh, vibrant nose of ripe gooseberry, tropical fruit and spice delivering strong varietal character. The palate displays flavours of ripe gooseberry, confectionary and tropical fruit with some passionfruit on the back palate. Clean acid finish. Aftertaste of ripe gooseberry, spice and ripe passionfruit. A wine with strong varietal character.

The earlier harvest season meant that much of the 2008 Clare Riesling fruit was safely in the winery before the onset of the devastating heatwave in early March.

Bright straw colour with pale straw hue. Superb nose with top note of lime, orange blossom and lychee – showing an exotic character with spicy end note. Superb palate flavours of lime, orange mandarin, tropical fruit and lemon. Excellent integration and balance. Clean acid finish. Aftertaste of lime, orange and spice. Yet another outstanding addition to Sevenhill's range that places their 'Inigo' collection amongst the Clare Valley's best values.

A refined Bouvet, with elegance and reflective of previous vintages, such as 2004. The wine pours well, with excellent mousse, followed by fine, very persistent bead. Straw colour base wine. Aroma of baked apple, spice, yeast lees and nougat. Creamy palate texture, with flavours of lemon, baked apple, yeast lees and tropical fruit. Clean acid finish. The creamy texture runs entirely through the wine. Long aftertaste of baked apple, spice and lees.

The Langmeil Vineyards have a history which follows the arrival to Australia of the first Lutheran migrants from Hamburg in 1839. The first vineyards were established in 1843 and the original patch of Shiraz stills remains productive today. In the past the fortunes of Langmeil have waxed and waned with the economic times. In the 1930’s the property was known as Paradale and by the 1970’s the vineyards were taken over by Bernkaster Wines which remained in business until 1988 when it’s crushing operations ceased. By 1993 the cellar door was closed. The Langmeil revival came about in 1996 when three local businessmen, Richard and Carl Lindner and Chris Bitter purchased the property and began restoration. The fruit for the Orphan Bank is produced from 147 year old vines, transplanted from their original site which was destined for housing development, to a more fertile patch on the banks of the North Para River. The wine has been matured in 54% American and 46% French oak.

Produced from vines planted in 1843 by Luthern pioneers. This rare parcel of fruit is vinified separately and matured in 81% new and 19% older oak.

A stunning old vine Shiraz.

Very deep black crimson colour with black crimson hue, showing strong cling to the glass. Perfumed nose of violet, vibrant fresh liquorice and spice followed by a blackberry and black pepper explosion. Velvet smooth tannins. Very long aftertaste of cedar, vanilla and dark chocolate.

Very deep black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Ripe plum top note followed by mocha and liquorice showing ripe fruit character. The palate reflects the nose with flavours of plum, stewed fruit, spice, mocha and black pepper. Fine, dry but well balanced tannins.

Brilliant very pale straw colour with water like hue. Superb top note of ripe gooseberry, spice and tropical fruit with just a hint of confectionary followed by unripe gooseberry in the background. The palate displays ripe gooseberry and citrus fruit flavours followed by spice – mouthfilling – there is a subtle grassy herbaceous back palate flavour. Clean acid finish. Grassy, ripe gooseberry aftertaste.

One that proclaims to be the crème de la crème of PX’s – and if you’re not entirely convinced, this sherry comes with its own padlocked top – the reason for this is to stop the midnight sippers in their tracks. Yes you need a key to unlock the padlock! A contemporary chastity belt!

A Magnificent Black Sherry

Deep sienna brown colour with deep olive green hue. Wonderful nose filled with the aroma of toffee, molasses, spice and brandied ripe raisins. The palate is a viscous treasure with its rich luscious texture and oil like consistency. Totally mouthfilling flavours of spice, honey, toffee and crushed dried raisins fill the mouth. Incredible length – perfect harmony with clean finish and exceptionally long aftertaste of treacle, caramel, honey and raisins. Perfect with chocolate cake and a must with the Christmas pudding.
