Boodles Gin (700ml)

UNITED KINGDOM
$64. 99
Bottle
$779.88 Dozen
ABV: 40%
Dating back to 1845 and named after Boodle's gentlemen's club in London’s St. James’, founded in 1762 and originally run by Edward Boodle. Famous members of the club included former Prime Minister Winston Churchill and James Bond author, Ian Fleming (was Boodles the historical foundation for the Vesper?)

This repackaged and rejuvenated brand has been under new ownership since 2013 and is now produced at the Greenalls distillery.

Tasting note: [40% ABV bottling] Quite frail aromatically, hinting at mineral, talc, lemon scented herbs and pine. Feather-light flavours echo the bouquet, with pepper warmth and juniper freshness developing towards the finish. Concludes brisk, bone dry and subdued to the point of being vodka-like. Odd. Look out for the 45.2% version.

Other reviews... An invitingly herbal and woodsy initial aroma of sage, nutmeg and cassia bark; more minutes find the juniper behind the assertive spice and herb flavorings. The palate entry is round, semisweet and moderately oily; at midpalate the taste is of rosemary and coriander and pepper. Finishes elegantly, firmly and squeaky clean. Best Buy.

Clear. Aromas of creamy porridge, lemon pastry, juniper, and spice with a plush satiny fruity-yet-dry medium-to-full body and a warming, seamlessly nuanced finish with notes of lemongrass gelato, pink peppercorns, coriander and piney herbs. A fantastically flavorful and balanced gin that is sure to please the most discriminating palate.
