Savour a generous dram of Ardbeg from this magnificent green tumbler glass. The tumbler’s design allows an easy grasp, with the warmth from the hand transferring heat to the whisky, allowing volatile aromas to be more readily released. A suitably big glass for an irrefutably big whisky! Screen printed with Ardbeg logo on side of glass and Ardbeg device at base.

The new Laphroaig is bottled at slightly higher strength than the last release. New Scotch whisky laws also require bottling dates and batch numbers on cask strength releases, hence the slight change in packaging.
This is the purists choice for lovers of Laphroaig, with the previous release awarded "Best Single Malt in the World" in 2005 by Whisky Magazine. Bottled at natural strength with all the depth, taste and texture normally associated with sampling whisky at source. The result is an emphatic Laphroaig expression, full bodied and unforgettable. Stocks of the 57.8% bottling will not last long.

Other reviews... To commemorate Talisker distillery’s 175th anniversary in 2005 a special, limited edition expression of the Skye single malt was issued by Diageo. Talisker 175 carries no age statement and consists of a release of 60,000 bottles worldwide. It is largely the work of Diageo’s Maureen Robinson, who says that some of the oldest component malts date back to the mid 1970s, while the youngest are at least ten years old. According to Talisker distillery manager Charlie Smith, “It has all the elements of Talisker but in slightly different proportions to those in the ten or the 25-year-old. It’s unmistakably Talisker, and one of the easiest drinking Taliskers I’ve tasted.” Complex on the nose, with sweetness overlying smoke. Elegant heather and Bourbon notes in the background. Sweet and smoky on the palate, coconut, spices and a hint of liquorice. Long and slightly salty in the finish, with insistent smoke. Lacking some of the pepperiness usually associated with Talisker. 45.8% - www.whiskypages.com
...A tamed Talisker. The classic Talisker personality shows-seaweed, brine, peat smoke, and freshly ground pepper on the finish. There are even other interesting flavors I enjoy, notably vanilla, licorice root, charcoal, and bitter chocolate. But this whisky needs to be a little livelier to be a truly great whisky. While there’s no age statement, there’s older whisky in here for sure, and maybe that’s part of its “reserved” nature. It certainly is a nice whisky, but I would prefer the more vibrant Talisker 18 year old -at two-thirds the cost. - www.maltadvocate.com

All six of the 'Classic Malts' have released limited edition 'Distiller's editions', which are finished in special casks selected by the master distiller at each distillery. Dalwhinnie's are finished in Oloroso casks, Glenkinchie in Amontillado, Cragganmore in Port, Oban in Montilla, Talisker in Amoroso sherry, and Lagavulin in Pedro Ximénez sherry. Talisker, which combines the island style of distinctive peatiness with it own individual notes of spice and pepper, has accented its character by finishing in sweet Jerez Amoroso cask wood, amplifying Taliskers sweetness and rounding out its rugged peaty character.
Bottled in 2009 and matured in American oak casks followed by a further period in Jerez Amoroso Sherry casks.

This is a new offering from Penny’s Hill that has been sourced from the estates original vineyard plantings. The wine has been given extended barrel aging (21 months in French and American oak barrels, of which approximately 30% were new, with the balance 1 year old) as well as additional bottle ageing to ensure that it’s looking at its optimal best upon release. An outstanding McLaren Vale Shiraz from Ben Riggs, that’s in limited supply with a total production of around only 400 dozen. The wine displays excellent colour with a totally opaque inky black crimson colour and deep black crimson hue. Perfumed aromas of blackberry, dark plum and liquorice allsorts followed by a spice and confectionary end note. Full bodied with mouthfilling opulent flavours of blackberry, dark plum and spice fully encompassing the palate followed by some dark chocolate bullets, confectionary and pepper on the back palate. The wines velvet smooth tannins in combination with the volumes of succulent ripe fruit provide the wine with a soft fleshy texture. Impressive depth and concentration with long aftertaste of blackberry, spice, liquorice allsorts and blackpepper. Cellar 3-4 years (2013-2014). Alc 14.5%
Other Reviews... By a considerable margin, the most profound of the Penny's Hill shirazs, built on a precise 92 weeks in barrel and 37 weeks in bottle prior to release; the aromas and flavours are all in a black fruit range with strong licorice and dark chocolate notes adding complexity to the structure of the full-bodied palate. Screwcap. 14.5% alc. Drink 2028; Date Tasted Jan 10 Rating 95 James Halliday - Australian Wine Companion

At a time when copper pot stills were a commodity most could not afford, Joseph Washington Dant innovated. He built his first still in 1836 according to an ‘old-time’ design and distilled via ‘The log still method’. A tree trunk would be hollowed out with copper piping running through it. The hollowed trunk would be filled with fermented mash & then steam would be fed through the piping to start distillation. Dant developed a reputation for being one of the best log still bourbon producers and was revered for his efforts. The same year he established his first distillery in what became known as Dant Station, Kentucky. Grains were grown nearby and a cooperage was established. His two sons would later pursue careers in the industry. Joseph Bernard Dant founded the Cold Springs Distillery Company which produced the famous Yellowstone whisky, while George Dant stayed on with the family distillery until Prohibition forced its closure in 1920. The brand was acquired in 1993 and is now part of the Heaven Hill portfolio. This bottle of Special Reserve is fermented from a sour mash and matured for four years in new American oak barrels. 40% Alc./Vol.
