‘The Scribbler’ pays homage to one of Yalumba’s most renowned wines ‘The Signature’, a Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz blend, made continuously since 1962. The Scribbler was matured for 12 months in a combination of 59% American oak, 35% French oak and 6% Hungarian oak of which 18% were new barrels.
An excellent Cabernet Shiraz blend very much in the mould of it’s older sibling, the Signature, but at less than half the price!
Excellent colour – opaque deep purple crimson colour with purple crimson hue. On the nose there are notes of cedar, spice, blackcurrant and blackberry, followed by some dark chocolate end notes – quite perfumed and showing good intensity. The palate displays impressive weight and concentration for its price point, with flavours of dark chocolate, dark plum, spice, blackcurrant and cedar. Well integrated, very fine grained tannin structure. Perfect balance. Exceptionally long aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant, dark chocolate and blackberry. An excellent Cabernet Shiraz blend very much in the mould of it’s older sibling, the Signature, but at less than half the price! Outstanding value.

A compellingly luscious wine which offers an array of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum fruit on both bouquet and palate, with enough savoury tannins on the finish to tighten the structure to the degree needed; balanced oak. Screwcap.
