This excellent Grenache recently picked up a Trophy and Gold medal at the 2009
Royal Queensland Wine Show. Matured for 6 months in older French oak barriques
and hogsheads. Yalumba is extremely fortunate to have access to a diverse
style of Grenache sites to produce this wine, ranging in age from
30 years to the 70 year old gnarled bush vines, and some older.
A Grenache that packs a real flavour punch.
Semi translucent crimson mauve colour with deep mauve hue. The nose displays
very good intensity with lifted aromas of ripe raspberry and dark cherry, followed by
some liquorice and confectionary background notes. Medium weight with mouthfilling
flavours of spice, liquorice and confectionary, followed by some black pepper that
powers through the finish. Fine grained
soft tannins with very long aftertaste of ripe raspberry, confectionary, black pepper and
spice. Great Value.
Drink now or cellar 2-3 years (2011-2012)
Alc/Vol: 14.5%
