2008 Three Brothers Reunited Shiraz Winemaker Ben Riggs continues to excel with this exceptional value for money red. He tells us that he and his team recently lined up every vintage of Three Brothers Reunited Shiraz, just to taste the effects of bottle age. He admits that he was more than surprised by the capability of the wine not only to hold in the bottle, but improve with age. This is no mean feat, given that the first vintage was in 2002 and that many other reds from later vintages such as '03, '05 and '06 are already fading. The secret lies with the quality of fruit.

The Three Brothers Reunited Shiraz remains Australia’s
Best Value for Money Red, not just this year, but every year

For several years this wine has held its position as Nicks Wine Merchants biggest selling red. After seven releases, (several surpassing all expectations) it has made so many friends that it sells itself. If you've enjoyed it in the past, or never tried it, this is your last chance to stock up on the 2008 vintage of what's been viewed as one of the best value wines on the Australian market.

Endorsements of this wine no longer seem necessary. After seven releases, each as reliable as the last (and several surpassing all expectations) the Three Brothers Reunited has made so many friends that it sells itself. The Three Brothers label depicts a firm handshake. It might just as well represent Riggs' original, long term vision for this wine which has swelled into a large and loyal following. Steadfastness pays off for all involved!

FINAL STOCKS OF THE EXCELLENT 2008 RELEASE

Tasting Note:
Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Aroma of plum, spice, vanilla, liquorice all sorts and spice. The palate flavours are most impressive with great length and depth of flavour (way beyond the price point). Flavours of plum, spice and liquorice – delivering a wine with both weight and mouthfeel. The palate is extended by a layer of spice, black pepper and stewed fruit and remains very persistent. Fine grained tannins, perfect balance, very long spicy black pepper aftertaste.
Cellar 2-3 years (2011-2012)
Alc/Vol: 14.5%

Other Reviews....
A handy McLaren Vale featuring various red and black berry fruit aromas and flavours with hints of sweet spice. The '08 may lack some of the weight and richness of the previous vintage, but it's still a well-balanced wine that will drink better with breathing. Made by the very caable and prolific Ben Riggs for Journeys End Vineyards - a good value bet.

Paddy Kendler's Drink - Herald Sun 25th August, 2009.

Journeys End sources South Australian Shiraz for a generously flavoured range of wines. The Three Brothers Reunited, at the budget end, has real presence. Ripe raspberry and blackberry with sweet spice and an earthy touch give it honest appeal and the medium-to-full palate has good texture and length of flavour. (14.5 per cent alcohol; screw cap.)
Ageing? Drink over 4 years.
Food ideas Barbecue meats; lamb shawarma.
