Marlborough seems to be excelling in the production of Alsatian style Pinot Gris.
A small portion of the wine (15%) was barrel fermented in old barrels with the remainder staying in tank, on yeast lees, for a period of three months to add a textural element to the palate. Very pale straw colour with a greenish tinge around the edges and pale straw hue. The nose displays good intensity with aromas of ripe lychee, pear, musk and confectionary. The palate is very rich and full bodied with flavours of ripe pear, lychee, spice and confectionary displaying an oily texture. Clean dry spicy finish with aftertaste of lychee, pear, spice and lees.
