The first release of Bobby Dazzler was greeted with wide enthusiastic acclaim.
The snappy comic book like label has great visual appeal and establishes an instant rapport between the buyer and the vivacious redhead Jane (who has a glint in her eye, for the handsome Air Force Captain) The Captain has other plans – he’s spotted the new Bobby Dazzler Shiraz Viognier and is not about to let go. Jane senses that for the moment, all is lost and her amorous intentions for the Captain will have to be postponed until after the bottle of Bobby Dazzler is consumed.

Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Perfumed nose with top note of violet and spice followed by notes of dried apricot and plum. Generous, joosy palate flavours – very typical of what Ben Riggs does best – a big over delivery of flavour. Fine grained tannins. Very distinct flavours of white and black pepper. Very fine balanced tannins, followed by a very long spicy finish.

McLaren Vale-based winemaker Ben Riggs oversees the production of more than a few high-quality wines. For example, the Penny's Hill range and his own Mr Riggs creations are dependably delectable. But at a top-value price, his Bobby Dazzler lives up to its name. It's a multi-regional blend, an exuberant and joyous expression of shiraz, unabashed and uncomplicated, more a wine for drinkers than thinkers. Worth the search.
