2007 Tatiarra Trademark Shiraz It's no industry secret that exports of Australian wines to the United States have been falling since last year (as much as 26%). Indiscriminate importation has tainted Amercian's perception of Australia as a land of "no terroir, manufactured wines". Serious producers have also being affected by the market malaise - at least for the time being. The irony of the situation is highlighted by comments from one American reviewer declaring "Tatiarra is a unique accomplishment... Not only is this wine among the best of its type but the winery itself is responsible for a change in the way Shiraz was viewed by the world market – it removed the South Australian monopoly held by the Grateful Palate [a prominent U.S. importer] and the massive style of the Barossa and McLaren Vale and transferred it to a broader region..." America's loss becomes your opportunity to acquire some of last years most highly rated reds...

Small quantities of 2007 Tatiarra U.S. allocations now available.

The Tatiarra Trademark Shiraz is a 50/50 blend of the best two barriques from the Tatiarra Vineyard in Heathcote and the two best barriques that Ben Riggs produced from McLaren Vale.

Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson purple hue. The nose is perfumed – lifted aromas of freshly picked violets, black pepper, spice and white pepper. A superb sniff and expressing the power of Heathcote overlaid with the refinement and elegance of McLaren Vale. The palate continues to reflect the elegance yet remains integrated and very forceful. Mouthfilling palate with exceptional length. Very strong flavours of black pepper, plum and blackberry over a background of black cherry and plum. Very fine tannins, exceptional balance. Very long aftertaste of plum, liquorice, blackberry and black pepper.
Cellar 8-10 years (2016-2018)
