A powerful new release from Buckshot. Opaque black purple colour with black purple hue, showing strong colour saturation. Lifted nose with distinct varietal characteristics – blackberry, spice, plum and liquorice are followed by a confectionary end note. The palate delivers the Classic Heathcote flavour profile, as well as showing excellent weight and persistence. Flavours of anise, chocolate, blackberry and black pepper are followed by a touch of white pepper on the back palate. Fine grained tannins, excellent balance. Very long aftertaste of blackberry, plum, spice, dark chocolate and black pepper. Cellar 5-8 years (2011-2014) Alc/Vol: 14.2%Other reviews... From a relatively young Victoria vineyard (11 years of age), there are 500 cases of this beautifully made, barrel-aged (both French and American) Shiraz. Its dense ruby/purple hue is followed by aromas of blueberries, smoke, and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, with sensational intensity, modest alcohol for a Shiraz of this size (14.2%), and moderate tannin, it will benefit from 1-2 more years of bottle age, and should drink well over the following 12-15 years. 93 points. Robert Parker Wine Advocate #168 (Dec 2006)
