This is only the second release of the two flagship wines from Journeys End Vineyards. Made by master winemaker Ben Riggs, the inaugural 2002 wines instantaneously established a reputation for excellence receiving rave reviews from wine scribes such as James Halliday & Huon Hooke. The good news is that the 2003’s follow in the footsteps of the 2002 wines, both the Arrival & Ascent Shiraz are fantastic follow up releases. The bad news is that increased worldwide demand for these wines, combined with a smaller 2003 vintage and rigorous barrel selection has resulted in a much smaller allocation. Stocks will not last long! This is the high point of the Journeys End Shiraz – the ultimate expression of McLaren Vale terroir as made by multi award winning winemaker Ben Riggs. Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Wonderful, lifted nose of violets, spice, liquorice allsorts, dark chocolate and vanilla. The palate displays great finesse and clearly delivers the finest expression of fruit from McLaren Vale. Mouthfilling flavours of dark chocolate, perfectly integrated with plum, spice and cedar. Very fine, dry, and perfectly balanced tannins, followed by an exceptionally long aftertaste. Limited stocks.
