We have witnessed the evolution of this wine over many months, and followed the barrel samples, as well as observing the development of the wine after bottling. Very deep crimson black colour with crimson mauve hue. The nose displays aroma of earth, spice, new leather followed by a very strong blackpepper top note over a blackberry background. Mouthfilling palate, with liquorice blackpepper flavours dominate which continue to build on the palate. Fine grained firmish dry tannins, followed by a long aftertaste of mint, blackpepper, spice and ripe plum. The wine is produced from 40 year old, low yielding, non irrigated vines. Very deep crimson mauve colour, with mauve purple hue. Aroma of stewed fruit, spice, just a hint of leather, violets, plum and blackberry. The palate is mouthfilling and displays the sort of intensity that Heathcote Shiraz has become renowned for. Intense flavours of plum, spice, blackpepper and vanilla. Excellent length and persistence. Fine grained, dry tannins, perfect balance, followed by a very long aftertaste of plum, spice and blackpepper and lingering fine dry tannins.
