Shaw and Smith have established a strong reputation for their intense Sauvignon Blancs which have gained a cult followed. The 99 vintage does not quite have the intensity of past vintages, although none the less is a very drinkable wine.Brilliant pale watery colour. Lifted aroma of ripe passionfruit and tropical fruits followed by ripe pineapple and gooseberry end notes. On the palate the flavours echo the nose, but lack complexity and power. The acid level is sufficient for the short term, warmish finish, with aftertaste of tropical fruit and passionfruit. Cellar 1-2 years.
