The 1998 Berry’s Bridge Shiraz was a colossal wine with incredible depth of flavour. The 1999 Berry’s Bridge has plenty of palate weight, but lacks the complex flavour profile of the 1998 – none the less it will appeal to wine lovers who like their reds big.Opaque black, crimson colour. Aroma of blackberry, blackpepper and a hint of smoky oak, followed by liquorice and a vanilla end note. The palate is huge, but less generous than the 1998. Toasted oak, blackpepper and spice palate, the flavours are a touch short on the forefront, but slowly build on the back palate and last long into the aftertaste. Fine grained tannins, followed by a long peppery, spice aftertaste. Cellar 5-8 years.RATING: 88/100 VALUE: XXXX/5
