Lawsons have a new winemaker - Mike Just, who has changed the style a little, yet is still producing an excellent wine. Bright pale straw colour. The nose displays outstanding fresh aromatic ripe gooseberry and herbaceous aromas with an undercurrent of unripe passionfruit. The palate is classic New Zealand with its crisp acid levels and strong flavours of gooseberry and just a touch of aniseed on the finish. A component of the wine has been fermented in French oak, adding complexity and its creamy texture and mouth feel are in part due to partial malolactic fermentation. Excellent depth and persistence with long grassy gooseberry tropical fruits aftertaste. Cellar 1 - 2 years.
