Named after the founder of the winery - James Stanely Malpas, whose initials are carved in a lintel above the 1873 cottage. Made from a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Opaque crimson, purple mauve colour. Inky Shiraz nose with aromas of fresh blackcurrants and blackberries. The palate displays great depth of flavour dominated by inky young Shiraz fruit, ripe mixed berries and liquorice. Excellent length, fine, but firm tannins with long inky blackberry aftertaste with a hint of aniseed and vanilla on the end. Cellar 5-8 years.
