This wine has won 3 gold medals to date all in 1997, one in Brisbane, one in Cowra and one in Melbourne. Based on that fact a great wine is expected, but is not delivered in spite of the gold!Opaque crimson colour with slightly vegetal nose which lies lurking under the vanilla oak and blackcurrant aromas. The palate structure is quite firm with blackcurrant and spice flavours being swamped by very firm, very dry tannins and a relatively high degree of acidity, and worst of all that vegetal (meth oxypyrazine) re appears on the palate and aftertaste. It's interesting to note that the gold was won as a one year old wine.
