An excellent example of 1996 Shiraz from McLaren Vale - it seems that it was virtually impossible to make a bad one that year! Opaque mauve crimson colour. There are ripe fruit aromas on the nose - blackberry and plum followed by spice, liquorice and aniseed. The palate displays excellent ripe fruit flavours, reflecting the nose. Spice, liquorice all sorts, blackberry and a hint of earthiness are well integrated by the fine grained tannin structure. Excellent balance with vanilla, liquorice and spice aftertaste. Cellar 5-8 years.
