TASTED: 25 May 1997 |
This is Tatachilla's benchmark red and was made to commemorate the founder of the Tatachilla winery - Cyril Pridmore. An outstanding follow up to the 1994 Foundation Shiraz. Opaque crimson colour. Aromas of ripe plum, spice and chocolate with liquorice overtones. The palate displays good weight, and depth of flavour, dominated by ripe plums, spice, black pepper with a smoky American oak background - mouth filling. The tannin structures are quite firm, but in balance to the fruit. Long aftertaste of ripe plums, dark chocolate and vanilla. Cellar 5 - 8 years.
