Heathcote experienced one of it’s driest summers on record in 2013 resulting in wines of incredible colour saturation, concentration and structure. Matured in French oak barriques (approximately 15% new) for 12 months, Winewise have recently commented that ‘it has to be one of the best value wines in the country’.

Totally opaque inky black dark purple colour with a very deep dark purple hue. Nosing reveals scents of ripe fresh blackberries and dark plums followed by some liquorice, subtle toasty vanillin cedar and spice. Full bodied the palate possesses abundant succulent ripe fruit featuring flavours of ripe blackberries and dark plum over some liquorice with the spicy vanillin cedar firmly in the background. Rock like structure with firm solid tannins providing some grip on the finish. Long aftertaste of ripe blackberries, liquorice, vanillin cedar and spice. Will invariably pick up a point or two with some bottle age.
Should be a belter in 5-6 years.
Alc 14.8%
